one of the bravest and most daring fashion icons of our time has to be lady gaga. she is fearless and will try anything without regard to the opinions of her critics. did anyone see any of her vma outfits?...
lady gaga recently released her newest music video (or more like a short film), telephone featuring beyonce
the video was styled by lady gaga's personal stylist nicola formichetti, you can check out his blog here
here's a few of my favorite looks from the video:
lady gaga in a custom viktor & rolf chain jumpsuit, and haus of gaga cigarette glasses, too cool
loved this madonna-esque get up with the studded jacket by search & destroy and vintage chanel glasses
custom fred butler telephone hat
there are too many spectacular outfits in this video to count. every detail is outstanding and gaga leaves the viewers speechless

hello hello hello
sorry i've been mia the last couple days, i just got back from my spring break and i've been a little frazzled, but some good news: I GOT THE JOB AT AMERICAN EAGLE! i haven't heard back from j. crew or ann taylor loft yet, but i figured it would be the smartest idea just to take the job because who knows the next opportunity I'm gonna get. i'm pretty excited, especially for my discount!
i was in boston this past weekend for the toro y moi show (whom ended up canceling last minute, bummer) but i still had a good time with some great friends
alsoo we spent a day wandering boston and shopping and i fell in love with this second hand store called "a second time around" on newbury street, highly recommend checking it out, I could've spent hours in there. they had a great variety of cheap pieces and some great high end designer pieces as well. i was particularly drawn to this blue armani tent dress
oh anddd there was a wonderful oversized purple chanel cardigan that i loved
errr, thats all for now really, i've got lots of homework to dooo

and the hunt ensues
hello all! turned in some job apps today and got an interview at american eagle on the spot! the interview went very well i felt, and it was a pretty fun interview at that. the assistant manager had me pick out an outfit and pitch it to her
ae ruffle t in vintage blush
medium wash destroyed skinny jeans
metallic silver sandals
and i couldn't find the necklace that went with the outfit on the ae website but it MADE THE OUTFIT
it was a long chunky chain link necklace similar to this:
i liked how the femininity of the pink and ruffles was offset by the metallic and by the industrial looking chain, and the wash of the jean complimented the "vintage" feel of the top...I may actually go back and buy it!
lets cross our fingers i get this job!

talking 'bout my generation
"Think vintage Disney watercolor illustrations of Bambi and magical forest critters meets your grandmother’s frumpy floral couch meets a Peter Max acid trip" says Vogue.com on the Savant Fall 2010 line by designer Feng-Feng Yeh

hello all,
after the oscars a few weeks ago, i really wanted to do an in depth post about all the wonderful fashion the night had to offer, but then my midterms struck and unfortunately i never got around to it. HOWEVER, i would like to post for you all, my favorite dress of the evening.
british actress carey mulligan received a best actress nomination for her role in 'the education', and arrived at the show in by far my favorite dress of the night.
this elegant prada strapless gown was perfect for her figure, and she complimented the outfit well with those SICK prada shoes and her short, edgy 'do. i loved the detailing on the gown, and wanted to take a closer look. you couldn't even capture my excitement when i saw what those details actually were....
MINI KITCHEN UTENSILS?! so awesome. the bodice of the dress is covered in flowers, forks, knives, scissors, nuts, bolts...it's dark and slightly twisted, but is perfect on this prada silhouette.
reportedly vogue editor anna wintour advised the young actress to wear a shorter dress for the awards and mulligan flat out rejected her advice, telling her she didn't need any dress tutoring. haha 'atta girl, i'm glad she did or she wouldn't have been the buzz amongst fashionistas everywhere.
well, now i must embark on a job search for this summer, wish me luck! and until next time,

lc lauren conrad for kohl's
my friends will tell you what a guilty pleasure mtv reality show 'the hills' was to me, but the majority of cast members have left the show to pursue personal projects. lauren conrad launched her first line this time last year selling at kitson in la. the price points were outrageous ($100 for a pair of leggings? girl, please) and the line, for lack of a better word, failed. miserably.
celebrity lines for department stores can either be really really awesome, rodarte for target for example, or really really horrible (avril for kohl's...gag). i recently came across the lc lauren conrad spring 2010 lookbook, and i must say, it's not half bad. the 24 year old starlet collaborated with former project runway contestant ra'mon lawrence for the spring line. the price points are much lower than her last line and the pieces are much more mature and flirty. i would've liked to see more color in the line, as it seemed to stick to a blue and white palate. conrad models the clothing herself for the lookbook, however it's unlikely she would actually wear the clothing, and the line most likely won't make much noise in the fashion industry, but teens are sure to buy just for the name.
covet: boyfriend blazer--only $39.99!
you can check out the whole collection here
if only i had lauren's collection of louboutins....
until next time, xox

when i grow up
today my roomate and I were talking about what we wanted to be when we "grew up" and I told her "i want to own my own luxury brand and be a philanthropist and live in a townhouse". these aspirations are inspired by my one of my favorite designers of all time, and a role model diane von furstenberg.
she has had a successful career since she burst onto the scene in 1972 with her famous wrap dress and is active in many women empowerment organizations, and also received the lifetime achievement award from the council of fashion designers of america, which she later was elected president of, and lastly she is one of the most talented designers of her generation. basically, shes everything i want to be

dream sequence
karl lagerfeld's dream inspired runway, chanel rtw fall 2010
breathtaking, just breathtaking. not only did the models walk on water, and through actual ice sculptures on the runway, they even carried the iconic quilted chanel bag made of ice!
the collection to me was reminiscent of the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe. lagerfeld used an abundance of (fake) fur in the majority of the pieces, mixing it with tweed for a classic chanel feel.
this look was one of my favorite from the collection because the sweater dress is beautiful, youthful, unique, and wearable!

march must have
i've been absolutely dying for a pair of oxfords! if i wasn't broke as a joke i would own them, however i must admire from afar for now
i would love that wolf sweater as well.
i found this pair from target for 25$! so cute and comfy for walking to class. i love that oxford's androgyny has finally transcended over into female style. They can be worn with skinny jeans or any tapered pant, or my personal favorite trend of shorts and tights

why is a raven like a writing desk?
i'm in a horrible mood, the weathers dreadful, and i just virtually ruined a skirt i've been working on for weeks. sigh. HOWEVER besides my minor tragedy of a life, there is something of interest I wanted to blog about...Alice in Wonderland! alas my favorite childhood movie of all time has been adapted to a modern masterpiece.
the costumes were, to put it simply.. AMAZING
costume designer Colleen Atwood had quite a challenge when taking on Burton's adaptation of the disney favorite, but her whimsical, playful, yet elegant costumes captivated my attention through out the film.
i loved this draped and tied grecian number. the volume around the waist was beautiful and ethereal and just lovely
